Glass America is the latest in the auto glass industry to hold a company-wide feeder competition to select the technicians that will be competing for Glass America on the national level. The Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Olympics™ will be taking place September 20-22, 2012 in Louisville, Ky.
Six finalists from different regions gathered in Atlanta on June 28 at the “Best of the Best” competition to vie for the top spot. Glass America allows every technician in the company to compete and selects a winner from six different regions to compete in the finals round. The competition is judged by representatives from SIKA Corp. and the AGRSS Standard is used as a basis for judging. The technicians are also scored for the quality of their installation and their customer service skills. The company-wide competition takes months to prepare in order to include every technician in the company.
Matt Thompson of Gaithersburg, Md., was the top technician and will be competing in the AGTO. Also competing at Auto Glass Week™ will be Will Richardson from Tampa, Fla., who came in second place. Chris Reeves from Cookeville, Tenn., rounded out the top three in third place.
“The ‘best of the best’ competition was inspiring. I know we all strive each day to be at the top of our game when dealing with customers and each other, but seeing the ‘best of the best’ was humbling. Their attention to detail, safety and professionalism was amazing,” says Michael Barry CEO of Glass America.
