Second-Time AGTO Competitor Hanson Says Organization is Key

Chris Hanson of Glass America in Chicago will return this year to compete in the Auto Glass Technician Olympics in Las Vegas. A second-time competitor, Hanson notes that organization is key for a competitor, along with preparation.

"I've been reviewing the requirements and my score sheet from last year, seeing what I can improve on," he says.

For Hanson, the biggest challenge of his first year of competition was nerves.

"I didn't expect to be as nervous as I was-this is what I do every day," he says.

Hanson and his wife, Aimee, have two children, Brandon, 15, and Nicholas, 9. At the age of 34, Hanson is approaching 15 years experience in the business.

"I'm looking forward to [the competition]," he says. "I can't wait."

The AGTO will be held November 7-8, 2008, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The AGTO is held as part of Auto Glass Week in Las Vegas, in conjunction with the Auto Glass Expo at NACE, the International Auto Glass Safety (AGRSS) Conference, the IGA's Fall Marketing Conference, the National Windshield Repair Association's (NWRA) Annual Conference, and the Third Annual Walt Gorman Memorial Windshield Repair Olympics (WRO).
