Vitro to Increase Auto Glass Prices by 7.5 Percent, Effective August 1

Vitro America (formerly ACI Distribution) announced today that it will increase the price on the auto glass parts it distributes by an average of 7.5 percent, effective August 1.

"These increases are happening at both the manufacturing and wholesale levels of our industry in reaction to dramatic increases in cost, especially energy," Jim Gentry, director of ARG for Vitro America, told™/AGRR magazine. "Current price levels are not sustainable in light of these significant cost increases. At Vitro America, we are committed to remaining competitive, and doing everything possible to control the effect of these costs."

In a letter to shops, dated July 10, Gentry references escalating energy and fuel costs, "as well as raw material increases and overall operating costs."

"We know you are all suffering these same cost issues," he writes. "We regret the need for this increase, but trust that you will understand."
