Manufacturer Recalls WF-120V for Incorrectly
Installed Windshields
December 17, 2009
Wildfire Motors Inc., a distributor of electric cars, scooters and
bikes, has issued a recall for its 2009 Wildfire WF 120V due to
incorrectly installed windshields on the vehicles. The recall was
issued on December 3 via the National Traffic Highway and Safety
Administration (NHTSA). The total number of vehicles affected is
42.
According to the announcement, the windshields in the two-door
passenger coupes don't comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard No. 500, "Low Speed Vehicle," and the incorrect
glass was used within them.
The vehicles were made by an unknown manufacturer, according to
the noncompliance report filed with NHTSA. Wildfire points out that
it has not been able to contact the manufacturer, and "may
no longer be in business."
"Should an object strike and shatter the windshield of the
vehicle personal injuries could occur increasing the risk of a crash,"
reads the announcement.
Dealers will replace the windshields for those affected, according
to the NHSA announcement, and Wildfire may be contacted at 740/283-6540.
