Belron is closing Glass Medic’s Columbus, Ohio, distribution center. The company will now serve Belron’s business units exclusively, including Safelite, according to Melina Metzger, public relations manager for Safelite.
“After a thorough business review, Glass Medic’s parent company, Belron Technical, determined its core purpose is to serve Belron’s business units exclusively. Therefore, Glass Medic has ceased sales of all products and its Columbus, Ohio, distribution center will close,” says Metzger.
Founded in 1975, Glass Medic specializes in windshield repair systems. Belron Technical purchased the company years ago.
Of course, the fact that no one on the outside was buying from them was totally irrelevant to the decision.
Hmmm… I used them. What other repair systems do you guys suggest?
Just another nail in the coffin of “Independent Glass shops”. If we don’t fight Safelie, and you can fight them, in another 5 to 10 years there won’t be but a hand full of independents left.
Oh, stop whining. That’s all some of you guys do, whine, whine, whine. Adapt to market realities, find a niche, or get out.
Belron is not about market share its about industry domination. As I said in 1975 about the auto glass industr ” we have seen have seen the enemy and it is us!” If I don’t join a network my competitor will and I’ll loose business. How’s that phlosophy working out for the independent?

Adapt! I have a couple of guys who were independent glass installers who joined LEAKPRO and with the leaks and glass, they have had to hired extra help! There are ways to win in the end…Remember Dinosaurs did not adapt….
