Automotive Glass Glass Company Hosts Fundraiser

Glass Doctor of Council Bluffs (Iowa) owner Ron White is one for community charity. His latest fundraising project? “Granny Basketball.”

White recently organized the event, which featured women 55- to 80-years-old playing in a basketball game, to support Gabriel’s Corner, Phoenix House and Birthright of Council Bluffs.

“I’ve always wanted to give back to my community,” says White. “They are the reason locally owned businesses are able to continue to do business. This is our way of saying thank you and to make sure the community members have what they need.”

For the past five years, White, along with his Glass Doctor employees, have sponsored a game feed that raises money for various community charities. White, along with the local Knights of Columbus chapter, raised more than $30,000 in a three-week period for Gabriel’s Corner, so they could purchase a new ultrasound machine.

With all of the charities combined, White, along with local community members and the local Knights of Columbus chapter, have contributed more than $30,000 a year to community organizations. In the last 13 years, he has help to raise more than $260,000 in charitable donations.

“We look to continue our charity work for many years to come,” says White. “I really enjoy what I do and giving back to my community, this is truly a wonderful place to be.”
