Durango, Colo.-based Glass Technology opens its doors for business as a windshield repair equipment manufacturer 30 years ago.
“Glass Technology had a different approach to doing repairs by incorporating a vacuum and it was that idea that spawned the company,” says Kerry Wanstrath, president. “The idea was to incorporate a vacuum into the repair process. … Our first devise was an awkward beast of a machine. It took us several years to reduce the size and weight to make the product easier to use and more marketable and functional.”
Thirty years later, the company now offers about 400 products, spanning the entire scope of the automotive glass repair and replacement business, Wanstrath says.
“We have completely reinvented our business, we couldn’t be happier with where we are headed as a company,” says Rory Most, vice president of sales and marketing.”
As a part of the celebration, the company is offering an anniversary version of its Stripper that includes a special quarter glass handle.
The company also recently purchased and moved into a new 8,200 square-foot manufacturing facility to support the expansion.
The new building is located at 264 Davidson Creek Road in Durango, Colo.
