If someone were to ask you the thing you’re most looking forward to at Auto Glass Week™ 2015, your answer should be, ‘The thing happening right at the beginning.’ At least that would be my answer—but then again, I’m slightly biased.
The “thing” I’m referring to is the event’s inaugural Auto Glass Week Golf Tournament, which will be held Tuesday, September 29 in Reno, Nev. The “biased” part comes from the fact that I love golf—I’ve even worked as a golf pro. I am organizing the tournament.
I’d say this blog post is self-serving, to drum up interest for the event. But really, you’re the one who will benefit, because you’re the one who will have all the fun—that is, if you decide to sign up and play.
So here’s the lowdown:
The golf tournament is being held at the beautiful LakeRidge Golf Course (and I can say “beautiful,” because I played it a few weeks ago), which is literally a five-minute drive from the Atlantis Resort and Casino. And even the drive doesn’t really matter, because included in the tournament registration is transportation to and from the tournament from the Atlantis.
So basically, the only “drive” you have to worry about is the one you’ll hit off the tee … and we can’t really help you with that. (What we can help you with, though, is the club that you’ll use to hit the drive. Rental clubs are available for an additional fee, as long as you let us know ahead of time or call the golf course to reserve a set prior to the event.)
Tournament format is an 18-hole, four-person team scramble. Everyone hits off the tee, and you pick the best shot. Then everyone hits from there, and you pick the best shot. Then you keep doing that (hopefully no more than four or five more times), until you’re in the hole. Don’t forget to count.
“But what if I can’t form a whole team?” Doesn’t matter. You can sign up as an individual, and we’ll match you up with other individuals.
You can, though, form your own team, if you’d like. There’s a spot on the registration form to note your teammates, and as long as they sign up, too, then you’re a team. If there’s only one or two others you’d like to play with, just note that, and we’ll fill out the rest of the team accordingly.
Overall winners will be awarded prizes, and we’ll also have longest drive and closest-to-the-pin competitions. The event will culminate with a barbecue at the course.
Golf, prizes, food, drinks, so how about it?
Registration closes September 8, and you must pre-register to play.
