The winners of the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Replacement Competition and the GlasWeld Windshield Repair Competition in Honor of Walt Gorman were announced tonight at a gala in Reno, Nev., where Auto Glass Week™ is being held.
New for this year, the AGTO competition was expanded into two categories—regular (10 technicians or less) and large businesses (more than 10 technicians). Haffo Stefansson of Car Tech Auto Glass of Edmonds, Wash., took the gold for large businesses in the Auto Glass Technician Replacement Competition. Joe Estrada of Estrada’s Carglass in San Antonio, Texas, took the gold for regular-sized businesses. Each was awarded a $5,000 prize.
Randy Olson of Chip Medic in Bend, Ore., won the gold in the Windshield Repair Competition. He also takes home a $5,000 prize.
Stefansson was followed by Michael Robertson of Glasspro in North Charleston, S.C., with the silver medal, and Chris Lewis of TechnaGlass Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the bronze.
Lewis also took home the silver medal in the Windshield Repair Competition and Ben Rorick of TechnaGlass in Spanish Fork, Utah, came in third with the bronze.
Additionally, the judges awarded a Ray Asbery Innovation Award to Rorick for an innovative setting tool. They also honored Alfredo Calva of Alfredo’s Auto Glass in Corona, Calif., with an Ingenuity Award for a primer-shaking tool.
Randy & his wife Vicky are GREAT PEOPLE, it was my pleasure to have met them in Reno!
CONGRATULATIONS RANDY !!!!
What is the setting tool that Rorick made? never heard that name before, a link to his product and the primer shaker would have been nice.
