Belron Enters an Agreement to Acquire the Assets and Operations of Laser Group in Australia and New Zealand

In alignment with its service extension strategy, Belron, parent company to Safelite AutoGlass, has entered into an agreement to acquire Laser Plumbing and Electrical Group ANZ (Laser Group). The company is a provider of plumbing and electrical services to both business-to-consumers (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) customers throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Laser Electrical was founded in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1983. The owners re-developed their business model and began franchising in 1999. Five years later, the company began to spread its operations internationally into Australia. After seeing the synergies between the capabilities required in electrical and plumbing, the owners continued with the creation of Laser Plumbing in 2006.

Laser Group’s membership network has coverage across both countries with more than 239 franchise members, and generates $8.3 million USD (7 million EUR) of gross income, according to the company.

“Following the acquisition of Maisoning Group in France, this agreement is another step forward for Belron’s service extension strategy, which is perfectly in line with its purpose of Making a Difference by Solving People’s Problems with Real Care,” said Axel Miller, CEO of D’Ieteren.

In October, Belron announced it had acquired 80 percent of the shares of Maisoning Group, a French company that provides home repair services (repair, renovation and emergency repairs) to both B2C and B2B customers. It was Belron’s first entrance into the home repair market in Europe.
