Auto Glass Week’s Global Competitions Return for 2018

Auto Glass Week’s world-famous competitions return for 2018 and a new one will be joining the line-up.  The first-ever Auto Glass Technician Calibration competition, which is sponsored by Opti-Aim, will debut this year, joining the second annual Auto Glass Customer Service Representative (CSR) Competition. Also, back for Auto Glass Week™ 2018, are the GlasWeld Windshield Repair Competition in Honor of Walt Gorman (WRO) and the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Competition (AGTO).

The event is slated for September 27-29 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Auto Glass Technician Calibration Competition

The Auto Glass Calibration Competition is dedicated to recognizing those performing ADAS Calibrations properly. The first ever Auto Glass Technician Calibration competition will be held during Auto Glass Week 2018 on September 27-29, 2018. It is sponsored by Opti-Aim.

The technology behind Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) often makes recalibration of the ADAS system necessary after a windshield replacement. This competition will focus on the proper methods and technology necessary for such calibrations.

The deadline to register is July 16. Visit https://autoglassweek.com/register_cc.php to register now.

CSR Competition

The Auto Glass Customer Service Representative (CSR) competition is returning to Auto Glass Week 2018. The Auto Glass CSR competition will recognize those who are the voice of the automotive glass industry—the individuals who interact with customers on behalf of an organization and work hard to secure business for years to come.

Competition registration for this event opened early to ensure there was time for our judges to call on competitors. All registrations must be in by August 15. Visit https://autoglassweek.com/register_csr.php to register now. The registrants will compete in a mystery shopper experience soon after the competition registration closes. Companies and their competitors will not be notified of the date or time of the call ahead of time. A team of judges will grade each call.

Based on the grades, one finalist from each region will be invited to compete in the finals round to be held on Saturday, September 29, at Auto Glass Week™ 2018. All finalists will receive two (2) room nights at the host hotel as well as a free full registration to Auto Glass Week.

WRO

Celebrating its 13th year, the GlasWeld Windshield Repair Competition in honor of Walt Gorman (WRO) is an international competition designed to recognize the best windshield repair technician. Not only does this event bring the best in the business together, but it raises the industry standard for repair. WRO is an opportunity for technicians from throughout the world to compete by repairing a vehicle’s glass part. Industry veterans judge the competitors’ repairs as well as their procedures, safety, cleanliness and customer interaction. This event provides the opportunity for competitors to learn from other professionals, execute safe and quality automotive glass repair, pick up innovative techniques and, of course, compete for the chance to hold the title of “World’s Best Windshield Repair Technician.”

Technicians can register online at www.autoglassweek.com/register_wro.php. The deadline is August 15.

AGTO

Also in its 13th year, the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Competition (AGTO) is a premier international competition designed to honor the auto glass technician who completes the best auto glass installation. AGTO provides the opportunity for technicians from around the world to compete by replacing a glass part. Industry veterans judge the competitors’ replacements as well as their procedures, safety, cleanliness and customer interaction. It is also a chance to learn from other professionals, execute proper and quality installations, pick up innovative techniques and of course compete for the chance to hold the title of “World’s Best Auto Glass Technician.”

AGTO competitors compete in one of two categories—regular-size companies (10 technicians or less company-wide) and large-size companies (more than 10 technicians company-wide). A first place will be awarded for each category. For second and third places, competitors from both categories will be pooled and the top two scorers overall will win second and third place. Technicians can register online at www.autoglassweek.com/register_agto.php. The deadline is August 15.
