NSG Group (NSG) announced this week that its Metashine®-printed glass was selected for the train-side passenger windows of Seibu Railway’s new express train “Laview,” which is scheduled to begin operation in March 2019. Manufactured from microscopic glass flake coated with proprietary surface treatments, Metashine® pigments produce a consistent glitter and luster effect, according to NSG.
The first train to be designed by Kazuyo Sejima, a world-renowned architect, “Laview” was developed to have a unique interior and exterior look. To help realize the design concept, NSG applied the automotive print technology to dot-print Metashine® on the entire glass surface to generate a deep, brilliant effect. In addition, the NSG glass was designed to improve insulation and quietness of the cabin by Japan’s first tempered/laminated glass with a sound-resistant/infrared-cut interlayer, paired with the multi-glazed tempered glass with proprietary low-E coating.
