The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently published two recalls that may affect your business. The two vehicle makes included in the recall are Champion Bus Inc. and Mercedes Benz, vehicle owners who are affected by these recalls have been notified by the administration.
Dozens of 2016 – 2018 Champion Bus owners are affected. The company’s Federal Coach Spirit model is the only vehicle affected by this recall. According to the NHTSA, the vehicle’s observation glass may shatter, making it harder for the driver to see. If the observation window (located above the windshield) is hit by road debris, it may shatter, resulting in glass falling into the driver and/or passenger compartment and may increase the chances of an accident, according to the NHTSA.
This recall is still in its development stages and is set to start in mid-January. Customers are being advised to call Champion customer service at 1-810-724-1753 extension 415.
The second recall focuses on Mercedes Benz, and affects the company’s 2019 E450 4Matic Wagon and E63S AMG Wagon vehicles. According to the NHTSA, the affected vehicles have a tailgate mounted spoiler that might not be properly attached and that could become detached while a person is driving. The detachment possibility in the 2019 models may increase the likelihood of an accident.
Mercedes Benz will notify all affected owners. Shop owners can anticipate to inspect and correct the spoiler mount at no cost to the customer. Auto glass shop owners can advise their customers to contact Mercedes Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
