New Recall Affects Polaris

Polaris owners and auto shops have a new recall to keep an eye out for. Polaris Industries Inc. released a recall on its 2015 and 2016 Slingshot models that have a backup camera. More than eleven thousand vehicle owners will be affected.

Owners may notice their vehicle’s back-up camera fail internally, possibly melting the voltage regulator and blowing the fuse for that circuit, which would prevent the taillight from functioning properly and cause a visibility issue that can increase the chances for an accident. These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Polaris will notify all owners effected by this recall, and auto shops can inform their customers they will fix the backup camera at no cost. Business owners may inform their customers to contact Polaris customer service at 1-855-863-2284 or the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
