There is a new recall you should be aware of, courtesy of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Certain Mazda North America Operations (Mazda) vehicle makes have been found to have issues that impact the auto glass industry.
More than 180,000 2016-2018 Mazda3 vehicles are affected by the company’s latest visibility recall. According to the NHTSA, the company is recalling vehicles due to defective windshield wipers. The defect in the windshield wiper relay may cause the windshield wipers to become inoperative, reducing the driver’s visibility and increase the likelihood of a driver getting into an accident.
Glass shop representatives working on the recalled models can assure their customers that the front body control module will be replaced with a new module which uses an improved wiper relay design, free of charge. According to NHTSA, the recall is expected to begin June 3, 2019. Shop owners can advise their customers to contact Mazda customer service if they have more questions at 1-800-222-5500, option 4. The number for this recall is 3219D.
