Trial of Alleged Murderers of PGW Employee Starts Today

Cha’valier Paul, of South Alabama worked as a delivery driver for PGW Auto Glass before he was shot and killed in Albany last year. According to police reports, cousins Demond and Dontavious Wingfield were both charged in the July 2018 fatal shooting and jury selection for the trial started today, according to court reports.

The trial which was set to start yesterday was postponed following a plea deal made last Friday by Demond, according to court documents. Prosecutors said Demond currently faces an aggravated assault charge instead of the original charges that included malice and felony murder. Attorneys also stated he will testify about what took place the night of the shooting as a part of his plea agreement.

Prosecutors said both men participated, but Dontavious is allegedly the shooter. The indictment alleges Dontavious of having the gun after he was already convicted on a felony charge.
