U.S. District Judge Timothy Savage awarded $700,000 in legal fees to attorneys with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP and Caputo & Mariotti PC for their work on behalf of a class of Progressive Specialty Insurance Co. (Progressive) customers who claimed they were cheated out of required discounts.
The lawsuit alleges Progressive failed to give some of its customers a state-mandated 10% discount for passive anti-theft devices. According to court documents, Pennsylvania state law requires insurers to pay discounts to vehicle owners who have passive anti-theft devices installed in their cars.
