NHTSA Issues New Mercedes-Benz Windshield Recall

The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued a windshield recall for select Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) models. According to the administration, the windshield may become separated from the vehicle frame.

Owners of the 2020 MBUSA GLE 450 are impacted by this recall. “The windshield may not have been bonded correctly to the vehicle, possibly allowing it to separate from the vehicle and affect the full protective function of the passenger’s frontal air bag in the event of a crash,” a portion of NHTSA’s press release reads.

MBUSA stated it will notify all impacted vehicle owners of its recall. Auto glass shops working on the impacted vehicles can assure their customers that their windshield bonding will be inspected and repaired if it as necessary, at no cost to them. The recall is expected to begin August 28, 2020. Auto glass shops whose customers have additional questions about the recall can contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
