NHTSA Issues New Volkswagen Recall

The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued an exterior lighting recall for select Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) models. According to the administration, a headlight is aimed incorrectly and can cause visibility issues for drivers.

Owners of 2020 Atlas Cross Sports and 2021 Atlas vehicles are impacted by this recall. “The driver’s side headlight may have been aimed too low during production. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment, a portion of NHTSA’s press release reads.

Volkswagen stated it will notify all impacted owners of its recall. Auto glass shops working on the impacted vehicles can assure their customers that their driver’s side headlight will be adjusted, at no cost to them. The recall is expected to begin October 25, 2020. Auto glass shops whose customers have additional questions about the recall can contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-888-241-2289. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 94N7.
