Safety First: Glass Recalls Announced in Several Vehicle Models

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration alerted consumers Monday about safety recalls on windshields and windows in certain vehicle models which require repair as soon as possible.

Inform your customers of the recall, and encourage them to call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline if they have not received a letter regarding this recall.

According to the NHTSA recall notice, the vehicles below “may create a safety risk for you or your passengers. If left unrepaired, a potential safety defect could lead to injury or even death. Safety defects must be repaired by a dealer at no cost to you.”

Chrysler’s 300 model 2020-2021, Dodge Challenger 2020-2021 and Dodge Charger 2020-2021 are under recall for inadequate windshield bonding. NHTSA Recall ID Number is 21V516.

According to a recall report by the NHTSA, the three Chrysler models “may have been built with non-conforming paint clear coat which may lead to inadequate front windshield adhesion to the vehicle body.”

The report states that in an automobile accident a windshield not adequately retained to the vehicle “may increase the risk of injury to the occupants.”

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Group determined on June 16, 2021 from testing and analysis that “the urethane sealant was not performing as designed and affected units may not meet” Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirements. A voluntary safety recall was declared July 1 by FCA US.

Other vehicles included in the recall are Thor Motor Coach’s 2019-2021 Aria, Challenger, Miramar, Outlaw, Palazzo, Tuscany and Venetian are under recall for window adhesive failure. NHTSA Recall ID Number is 21V522.

Forest River Inc.’s Coachmen Cross Country from 2015-2017, Coachmen Encore from 2015, Coachmen Mirada from 2016-2020 and Coachmen Sportscoach from 2018-2021 are under recall for window adhesive failure. NHTSA Recall ID Number is 21V523.

Also from Forest River Inc., the 2019-2021 Berkshire, 2011-2016 Blue Ridge, 2014-2019 Cardinal, 2014-2020 Cedar Creek, 2014-2021 Georgetown, 2019 Legacy and 2017-2018 Riverstone are under recall for window adhesive failure. ID Number is 21V523.

Jayco Inc. reported window adhesive failure in the 2019-2021 Entegra Anthem, Entegra Aspire, Entegra Cornerstone, Entegra Insignia, Entegra Reatta and Jayco Embark. Recall ID Number is 21V529.
