Auto Glass Companies Named in Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 Ranking

Entrepreneur Magazine recently released its annual list of top 500 franchises, and three companies related to the auto glass industry landed a spot this year—Novus Glass, Carstar and Glass Doctor.

No. 101 – Novus Glass

Initial Investment: $56,800 – $216,490

Total amount of Units: 2,013

CEO: Steve Leal

Novus Glass was founded in 1972 and began franchising in 1985. There are more than 200 locations in North America and more than 1,700 overseas serving the windshield repair and replacement industry.

No. 193 – Carstar

Initial Investment: $298,200 – $804,300

Total amount of Units: 719

CEO: Michael Macaluso

Carstar was founded in 1989 and began franchising that same year. Carstar is one of the largest networks of collision repair businesses. It has 650 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

No. 232 – Glass Doctor

Initial Investment: $158,200 – $300,400

Total amount of Units: 180

Brand President: Brad Roberson

Glass Doctor, founded in 1962, serves the window repair industry and has been franchising since 1977. Glass Doctor has more than 150 franchises in the United States.

Entrepreneur comprised its list using an adjusted Franchise 500 formula that gave extra weight to international size and growth. Other areas of evaluation include costs and fees, franchisee support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability.
