Subaru of America is recalling specific new 2022 Outback midsize SUV and 2022 Impreza compact models for improper windshield attachment. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says they may have applied the wrong clear coat to the windshield during the assembly of the two models, which can cause the windshield to be insufficiently bonded to the vehicle.

My windshield cracked from.bottom up about 10 in .is there a recall?
My 2022 Subaru Outback has had 12″ cracks appear over night twice in the last 6 months. Both appeared on the passenger side: one starting from the side moving toward the center and the other from the top moving down curving to the center. Why is this happening? I can’t find any rock chips to have caused it! Thanks for keeping a eye on this problem.
hopefully you reported it to NHTSA as they keep track of this and if they have enough complaints a recall could ensue. I am told they made the windshield thinner so that it could house technology so it can crack on its own. Family member has one and right now all you can do is file a complaint as Subaru should fix it for free but until they have a lot of complaints they will not!
We are experiencing the same issue with 2022 Subaru Outback. A random crack appeared on the passenger side overnight and is progressing towards the center. Did they resolve anything for you?

I am having the same problem. My Outback was in a covered garage. It was fine. When I went to the car 2 days later it was cracked. Also from the edge of the passenger side in towards the center. The crack slightly curved downward. There are no other chips or anything on the windshield or the car. Has there been any official information for this out there? Thank you .

I have a 22 outback and have had crack happen overnight. Replaced windshield and 8 months later driving and biggest crack formed without any impact. Scared the crap out of me!
2022 outback windshield cracked while sitting on driveway. Extremely frustrated. Called Subaru headquarters and went to dealership. They’re going to cover one-time windshield replacement, but were defensive and very unfriendly about it; denied that windshield defective. They told me all cars have frequent windshield cracks. I’m not happy about this.
