Allstate,
Auto-Owners, Revise Pricing Factors
Allstate Insurance Co. has notified shops that effective February
8, glass part pricing will be audited at new levels based on the
National Auto Glass Specifications (NAGS) published list prices.
While the new factors were not announced, these are available on
the LYNX Services MEXTRYX™ website. LYNX manages glass claims for
the Northbrook, Ill.-based insurer. The announcement was made to
Glass Claim Express participants via e-mail on Friday.
"Increased competitiveness in both the auto glass and insurance
industries make it necessary to change the pricing Allstate offers
for automotive glass services," reads the e-mail, according to industry
sources.
Company officials note in the memo that there are no changes to
the existing program price offering for labor, installation materials
(kits) or windshield repairs. The changes affect NAGS part prices
only.
Last week, LYNX Services notified shops in 25 states that Auto-Owners
Insurance in Lansing, Mich., also has changed its glass-part pricing
for all auto glass claims. Its changes, announced January 31, became
effective February 1.
