Apple Auto Glass Awards $5,000 to “Cash Your Chips in Event” Grand-Prize Winner, along with $5,000 to Winner’s Charity of Choice
December 13, 2010
Apple Auto Glass announced that Bill Power, a resident of Montague, Prince Edward Island, Canada, was the winner of its “Cash Your Chips in Event.” The winner won a cash prize of $5,000, along with $5,000 to be donated to the charity of his choice—the Royal Canadian Legion.
The Cash Your Chips in Event was launched in late September and ran through November 6. As part of the contest, customers who purchased windshield repair services at participating Apple Auto Glass locations received one “Scratch and Win” card. The cards had to be scratched in the presence of an Apple employee, and only one card was provided. Customers could win “instant prizes” of cash (up to approximately $109 U.S. dollars), which could be claimed immediately or used toward a future windshield repair purchase. In addition, the cards had a Grand Prize PIN code found on the reverse side of the card, and could enter the Grand Prize drawing by entering that PIN code online, along with completing an official online entry form with name, address, etc.
For those who didn’t want to purchase a windshield repair service in an effort to win a scratch card, they could also submit a 50-word essay on the subject “What Makes NOVUS Repair Unique.”
While Apple admits the program did generate sales, company officials said the program also was beneficial to the community.
"We are all local owners and operators in our communities, so we get to see first-hand the effect of initiatives like this," says Wade Bryanton, owner of three Apple Auto Glass locations in Prince Edward’s Island. "We feel that making a difference in our community is good for business.”
