February 17, 2010
The 2010 BWM X5s recently recalled due to a windshield bonding problem
were made at the company's plant in Spartanburg, S.C., according
to Stefan Behr, a company spokesperson. (CLICK

"Some of the BMW X5 vehicles which were produced in December
2009 could have a windscreen which was not properly bonded in,"
he says. "In total we expect approximately 200 vehicles to
be affected, mainly for customers in the United States and Canada."
The company says they discovered the issue when checking the vehicles
for quality.
"In our quality loops single cars showed this failure,"
Behr adds. "Therefore we will offer a remedy as well as further
information as soon as possible."
Behr, who is based in Munich, Germany, had not yet responded to
further questions about what caused the bonding issue.
