Belron US to Move Kingston, Pa., Distribution Facility
Belron US recently decided to integrate the Diamond Kingston Distribution Center operations into the business, as part of its acquisition of Diamond's assets. As part of that decision, will close the Kingston facility, and eventually plans to move the operations to a new warehouse in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pa., area, according to Belron US spokesperson Jenny Cain.
The Kingston Distribution Center currently employs 120.
"Of the 120 associates at Kingston Distribution Center, 33 will be offered employment at the new Scranton facility or at other Belron US warehouses," Cain says. "One hundred twenty associates will remain employed until the end of 2008 and 76 associates will remain in place through October 2009."
Cain says Belron continues to hold job fairs for those who will be let go.
As for the new warehouse, its final location has yet to be determined.
"We are in the process of conducting site visits to select the new warehouse location," she says. "The site will be selected by late October."
Cain adds that the decision to move the facility was one of space-too much space, that is.
"We are moving to a new location because the current facility is larger than what we need," she says.
