Industry Expert Publishes Technical Reference Book
December 5, 2011

Industry expert Bob Beranek has authored his own book, “The Complete Guide to Auto Glass Installation: A Textbook.” The 360-page text includes chapters on everything related to auto glass installation, included personal safety, tools, choosing and pricing parts, and adhesive bonding. It also includes chapters on windshield repair, “trade math,” pattern-making and glass cutting. The book was co-authored and edited by Beranek’s wife, Ann Schuelke.

“My goal was to create a text book that tech schools and others could use around the country if they wanted to,” says Beranek.

He says he has several hopes for the book, which includes suggested quizzes and tests on the various topics it covers.

“Obviously, I want the industry to put in glass the right way, and this is a collection of all the proper procedures for installing auto glass,” says Beranek. “I’m hoping those who can’t afford a full week of training or to go to trade shows can pick this up and learn the proper way to [install glass].”

Though Beranek says the book took nine to ten months to write, his experience dates back to 1973, when he got his start in the industry as an installer for a regional Midwest glass company. He went on to found his own company, Automotive Glass Consultants, and Today, Beranek also serves as a member of the Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards (AGRSS®) Council Inc.’s board of directors and as chair of the AGRSS Standards committee.

“The Complete Guide to Auto Glass Installation” is available through, Barnes and Noble, Authorhouse Publishing, or directly from Beranek at
