Cleveland police are searching for a black SUV with a broken windshield and front-end damage that was involved in a hit-and-run accident Friday night.

The accident, which occurred around 7 p.m. on West 31st and Denison Ave., left a 12-year-old girl in the hospital. The driver hit the young girl as she was crossing the street with friends. Witnesses claim the girl flew about 30 feet; the speeding driver then ran a red light to escape the scene.

Current conditions for the young girl are unknown; however, police say she was taken to the hospital with “severe injuries.”
