GEICO Unveils Data Facility
GEICO recently opened a $28 million data center expansion in Fredericksburg, Va. According to the company, the 17,000-square-foot facility will serve as the core of the company's voice and data operations, providing computer connections and services for its offices around the country.
"Because we do so much business over the Internet, we increased the capacity and reliability of our primary data center," says Steve Martz, GEICO assistant vice president of real estate and facilities management.
"We have been extremely pleased with the state-of-the-art technology that is available for us to grow and improve our business," adds Tony Nicely, president and chief executive officer of GEICO.
The original data center was built in 1996.
