April 16, 2013

Auto Glass Week™, the international event featuring auto glass repair and replacement competitions, educational seminars and an exhibition/extravaganza, is proud to announce that GlasWeld, the industry leader in windshield repair, glass scratch removal and other glass restoration solutions, is sponsoring the event at the Platinum level.

As the Platinum Sponsor of Auto Glass Week™, GlasWeld will be sponsoring the auto glass repair competition, in honor of Walt Gorman. Technicians from all over the world showcase their skills and compete for a grand prize of $10,000.

"Auto Glass Week™ is the premier meeting place for our industry and attended by those members that share our belief in uncompromising quality both in products and customer service," says Dennis Garbutt, general manager of GlasWeld.

"GlasWeld was founded over 30 years ago in Bend, Oregon, by innovative engineer Hap Alexander. We [GlasWeld] provide the highest quality and most functional tools and supplies in the glass restoration industry, worldwide. Our brand is about doing repair the right way, everywhere, every time. Our products offer above average dependability, durability and value and we are proud that many of them have been awarded patents," Garbutt adds.

Auto Glass Week™ draws more than 1,000 attendees and features top industry players on the show floor each year. The event will be held in Tampa, Fla., at the Tampa Convention Center and the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel and Marina, September 18-20.

"Auto Glass Week™ has become the industry forum for sharing new ideas and concepts, developing meaningful relationships with fellow industry members and, through the various competitions, allowing technicians to apply their skills and gather new skills from observing the techniques of other competitors," says Garbutt.

"GlasWeld will continue to refine existing products and supplies, introduce innovative new products and profit opportunities and expand our professional training and development programs," he adds.

As for competing technicians, Garbutt offers some words of advice.

"Practice, practice, practice! There are many quality competitors out there all wanting to demonstrate their skills and win the first prize as World Champion," he says.

GlasWeld will be featured on the show floor in booth 800.

Walt Gorman, an industry icon, was the owner of A-1 Windshield Doctor in Seekonk., Mass. and an AGRR™ columnist.
