Belron US Employee Holds Golf Tournament to Support Local Family

Scott Ouellette, an area sales manager with Belron US, the parent company of Safelite AutoGlass, recently wrote a check for nearly $8,000 and gave it to a girl who is battling a rare form of cancer. The check came from the proceeds from the 22nd Annual Safelite Shark Golf Tournament, an event Ouellette, with the support of Safelite and its parent company Belron US, started and has been chairing for more than two decades.

Ouellette has donated all proceeds from the tournament to Amber Dugan and her family for the past two years, but was able to collect $2,000 more this year than last. Dugan is 13 years old and was diagnosed in 2004 with Metastatic Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare disease in which malignant cancer cells are found in the bone. Ouellette first heard about Dugan's condition from her uncle, a close friend of his and participant in previous Shark Tournaments.

"The best part of having the tournament is to see how people really step up to help," Ouellette says. "Safelite helps out, our insurance agents and restoration companies get involved. It's just great to see people show up. And we all go home knowing we made a very deserving girl feel a little bit better."
