Woburn, Massachusetts-based JN Phillips Auto Glass has acquired
Acme Glass Co. and Allen Auto Glass, according to Bob Rosenfield,
president and CEO of JN Phillips. Both companies are based in Massachusetts.
Acme Glass will continue under its current branding, with the company
being run as a division of JN Phillips. The Acme shops are in Plymouth,
Walpole and Hyannis, Mass., while the Allen shops are in Rockland,
Plymouth and Hyannis, Mass. Allen will also continue to operate
under its current branding.
Allen Auto Glass president Chris Allen has joined the JN Phillips
team as a part of the deal. As for the Acme owner Mike Mcloskey,
Rosenfield says he is moving on to pursue other interests; however,
the team will join JN Phillips.
The terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.
"In this case, these two companies are ones we respect and
share values with. They are in an area of our market that we felt
by coming together we could be more successful than continuing to
compete," says Rosenfield.
Discussing the market atmosphere, he adds, "The industry is
no doubt more challenging and Massachusetts and New England are
no exception. We like the auto glass business and as difficult as
it might be there continues to be opportunity to create value for
customers. These acquisitions are a part of our strategy to continue
to do everything we can to be relevant and valuable to customers
in need of auto glass service."
JN Phillips now has 43 locations, according to Rosenfield.
Officials from Acme and Allen had not yet responded to requests
for comment at press time.
