 
Miles Driven Up Across the U.S.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHA), a division of the U.S.
Department of Transportation, has released its miles driven report
for January 2013 showing miles driven grew by 0.5 percent, or 1.2
billion vehicle miles, compared to January 2012. Total estimated
travel for January 2013 is estimated to be 226.9 billion vehicle
miles.
Travel across the U.S. increased with several regions seeing healthy
spikes in driving. The West saw a 1.0 percent growth over the past
year, while the North Central and North-East saw increases of 0.7
and 0.6, respectively. These increases show a significant improvement
over December's
declining numbers.
