Letter Raises Questions Among Michigan Glass Shops
January 18, 2012

A letter that has been received by several Michigan glass shops in recent months has raised questions about both its origins and meaning. The anonymous letter, titled “New Antitrust Concerns,” questions the move of Allstate’s auto glass claims administration to Safelite Solutions and the repercussions some suggest it might have for the industry.

The letter includes a postmark from Bloomington, Ill., and, in some cases, features a specific return address of "Concerned Citizen, 1 State Farm Plaza, Bloomington, Ill. 61701."

Some have questioned whether the letter has origins with State Farm, based on the return address. State Farm glass claims team manager Melissa Kern provided the following response to an inquiry from glassBYTEs.com™/AGRR™ magazine regarding the letter’s possible origins.

"State Farm did not send a letter," she says.

glassBYTEs.com has not received any reports from readers outside of Michigan who have received the letter.
