February 10, 2011

Two bills have introduced in the Massachusetts House of Representatives that specifically address the auto glass business.

One of these concerns third-party glass claims administrators and would “prohibit auto glass insurance claims third-party billers from participating as vendors of auto glass replacement and/or repair services for the same insurance carrier.”
H.D. 3339 was pre-filed by Rep. Paul McMurtry on January 21, and its full text has not yet been released. McMurtry was not available for comment at press time.

In addition, Massachusetts state Rep. Thomas Conroy also has filed a bill, H.D. 2747, that “relates to consumer protection in motor vehicle glass service.” The specific provisions of the bill have not yet been released.
