Pilkington Officials Say They Are Committed
to Safety in Light of Recent Employee Fatality, OSHA Violations
October 5, 2010
Pilkington North America officials have issued a statement citing
the company's commitment to safety, in light of a recent
fatality following an accident at the company's Shelbyville,
Ind., auto glass plant, and several OSHA
citations received earlier this year.
"Pilkington is committed to achieving the highest standards
of health and safety and places a high priority on safety compliance,"
says company spokesperson Roberta Steedman in a written statement.
Company officials say the incidents are unrelated.
"There is no connection between these OSHA citations at the
Shelbyville plant and what tragically happened to Mr. Caudill last
week," says Steedman. "The company is cooperating with
OSHA and local officials as they continue their investigation to
determine the circumstances surrounding this incident and Pilkington
is continuing to conduct its own internal review alongside of that
investigation."
