Pilkington North America has made plans to expand its original-equipment automotive glass plant in Versailles, Ky., according to state records. The expansion project is expected to cost approximately $55.3 million and create 56 jobs.
The state has provided Pilkington with a grant of $1.1 million through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act, according to local reports. In addition, state records show that the company has been authorized a maximum tax incentive for the project of $100,000.
The Kentucky Center for Economic Development gave its final approval for the project yesterday.
The plant currently employs 280, according to state records. Pilkington says the plant fabricates both laminated and toughened glass parts.
Pilkington officials had not yet responded to requests for comment at press time.
