Platinum Sponsors Named for the AGTO and WRO

NordGlass has signed on as the top sponsor for the Auto Glass Technician Olympics and GlasWeld will serve in the same capacity for the Windshield Repair Olympics in Honor of Walt Gorman, which are a part of this year's Auto Glass Week™.

The NordGlass Auto Glass Technician Olympics will be held September 19-20, while the the GlasWeld Windshield Repair Olympics in Honor of Walt Gorman will be held September 18-19 at the Tampa Convention Center.

Platinum sponsor NordGlass has two plants located in Koszalin and Slupsk, Poland, where the company produces glass panes for more than 1,200 of the most popular types of vehicles in Europe.

For more than 30 years, Bend, Ore., based GlasWeld has been a leader in providing glass repair solutions for both the flat glass and automotive industry.

Now in its eighth year, the NordGlass Auto Glass Technician Olympics provides the opportunity for technicians from around the world to compete to replace a damaged windshield. Industry veterans judge the competitors' replacements as well as their procedures, safety, cleanliness and customer interaction.

It is also a chance to learn from other professionals, execute safe, quality installations, pick up innovative techniques and, of course, compete for the chance to hold the title of "World's Best Auto Glass Technician."

The first-place winner will receive $10,000, a gold medal and trophy, as well as bragging rights as the "World's Best Auto Glass Technician." Second place will receive $1,000 as well as a silver medal, and third place will receive $500 and a bronze medal.

Also entering its eighth year, the GlasWeld Windshield Repair Olympics is an opportunity for technicians from around the world to compete to repair a chip in a vehicle's windshield. Industry veterans judge the competitors' repairs as well as their procedures, safety, cleanliness and customer interaction.

This event provides the opportunity for competitors to learn from other professionals, execute safe, quality automotive glass repair, pick up innovative techniques and, of course, compete for the chance to hold the title of "World's Best Windshield Repair Technician."
Walt Gorman, an industry icon, was the owner of A-1 Windshield Doctor in Seekonk, Mass., and an AGRR™ columnist. He shared nearly 20 years of his life with the auto glass repair industry until his death in 2006. Gorman also served on the National Windshield Repair association board of directors for 10 years and was one of the association's founders.

The deadline to register for both these events is open until July 8; however, slots for competitions are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The champions for the events will be crowned at the Gala Awards Reception and Ceremony on September 20.
