Safelite® Employees to Participate in Inaugural Triathlon and Charity Poker Run

April 8, 2010

Hundreds of Safelite AutoGlass employees and their guests will travel to Las Vegas next week to participate in the inaugural Safelite triathlon and charity poker run. The event is part of the Rage Triathlon at Lake Mead and will be held on April 17.

"We chose the Las Vegas race because of our company's presence in the area through our stores and technicians," says Matt Weger, director of IT for Safelite and event coordinator. "However, we also know Las Vegas has beautiful scenery just off the strip, a fun nightlife and mild April weather."

Participants will include Gary Lubner, chief executive officer of Belron® SA, and Tom Feeney, president and chief executive officer for Safelite AutoGlass.

"I'm excited to participate in the run portion of the triathlon," says Feeney. "This is an opportunity for our team to come together for a great charity, and for me to take the personal step of getting healthier."

The event is held in an effort to benefit MaAfrika Tikkun, a charitable organization based in South Africa aimed at helping destitute communities by working with orphans and vulnerable children. Last year, participants raised $110,000 and the company hopes to double that this year.

The Safelite event is a precursor to the London Triathlon, where select employees will join coworkers from around the world.
