UNITED KINGDOM - Auto Windscreens Reports Replacement
Windshield Shortage in United Kingdom
May 7, 2010
The high demand for replacement windshields at the beginning of
the year, following the United Kingdom's (UK) worst winter in 30
years, has led to a national shortage of windscreens, according
to UK-based Auto Windscreens.
The company reports that many installation companies are experiencing
delays, especially for vehicles such as the Vauxhall Zafira, Astra
and Vectra, VW Passat and Golf and Audi A4.
Auto Windscreens says it has increased its own production by more
than 40 percent at its own windscreen factory to try to make up
for the shortage, and is currently running at a capacity of 600
windshields produced a day.
"It's unusual to have a national shortage of windscreens and
we've certainly not come across it before," says Nigel Davies,
Auto Windscreens sales and marketing director.
