Don't Let This Date Slip By You: Register for the Fifth Annual WRO Before It's Too Late
August 27, 2010
Registration for the fifth annual Walt Gorman Memorial Windshield Repair Olympics will close in just three weeks on September 17 at 5 p.m. There are only a few spots left and you don’t want to miss the chance to be the only champion named 2010 “Best Windshield Repair Technician in the World.”
The Windshield Repair Olympics is the premier windshield repair competition where technicians come together to challenge and learn from one another. This year, the competition returns to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The event is co-sponsored by the National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) and AGRR magazine and will be held alongside the NACE Expo. GlasWeld is the corporate platinum sponsor of the event. Additional corporate sponsors include HSG (a diamond sponsor) and Glass Doctor (an emerald sponsor).
The competition takes place Monday and Tuesday, October 11-12, which is extended from its previous one-day format in past years. Eligible technicians must work in a genuine operating auto glass company and have at least one year of experience in the industry.
The gold medalist receives $1,000 and title of “The Best Windshield Repair Technician in the World.” The winner's company receives extensive media coverage, use of the Windshield Repair Olympic Winner logo on stationery and business cards and advertising for one year, and will be featured in AGRR magazine.
This competition is the only event of its kind devoted solely to auto glass repair. Along with the opportunity to display their skills in front of industry professionals and manufacturers, contestants will be given free entry into the NACE trade show.
Walt Gorman was the owner of A-1 Windshield Doctor in Seekonk, Mass., an AGRR columnist and an industry icon sharing nearly 20 years of his life with the auto glass repair industry. Gorman served on the National Windshield Repair Association board of directors for ten years and was one of the association's founders. This competition honors his commitment and the commitment of others to the finest techniques and safety in the industry.
