Belron Officials Attribute Autoglass® Cuts to Mild Winter, Rising Fuel Costs

The recent employee cuts at Autoglass, Belron’s United Kingdom-based brand, are the result of “an exceptionally mild winter combined with the increased cost of fuel, which has caused a reduction in the number of miles driven and a consequent reduction in vehicle damage,” according to sales and marketing director Jeff Boekstein.

“As a result, the industry as a whole has seen lower demand this year,” he adds. “ … In all our markets we constantly assess the level of resource (both full-time and part-time) we need to meet local market conditions.” 

However, Boekstein points out that despite the recent cuts, overall Belron’s employee numbers are up from last year. 
“We currently have around 25,000 people working for us – slightly up from the same time last year,” he says.
