AGRR Companies: Business as Usual Despite Unrest
The nation’s spotlight is centered on Ferguson, Mo., and the surrounding communities as many wait word from the grand jury on whether a police officer will be indicted for his actions on the day Michael Brown died. The Missouri governor has declared a state of emergency for the area and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has said civil unrest could be possible once the decision is handed down. AGRR Industry Reacts to Boyd Acquiring NCS
The industry showed a mixed response to the news over the weekend that Boyd Group Income Fund, parent company to U.S.-based Gerber Collision & Glass, Glass America and others, is acquiring Schaumburg, Ill.-based Netcost Claims Services (NCS), an automotive glass claims administrator for insurance companies. “Seems to me that companies are doing all they can do grab some market share,” says Mark Liston, president of Glass Doctor. Glass Doctor Sues Former Franchisee for Alleged Trademark Infringement
Synergistic International LLC (which does business as Glass Doctor) has filed a lawsuit against Mike Compell of Oswego, Ill., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for “continuing to conduct a glass repair business under the Glass Doctor name and mark,” including usage of Glass Doctor’s official website and phone number. The company’s attorneys claim Compell is a former franchisee whose franchise agreement was terminated “by mutual agreement” on March 28, 2008. Continue reading
