Volkswagen to Unveil Self-Driving Car as Part of Post-Dieselgate Shift
D’Ieteren’s management is keeping a close eye on the development of Volkswagen’s emissions scandal. D’Ieteren, which owns Belron (parent of Safelite AutoGlass), also owns an auto division which distributes Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles throughout Belgium.
Volkswagen is recalling certain 2015 Audi Q3 vehicles over a potential sunroof safety issue. If the vehicle is turned off while the sunroof is closing, the sunroof could continue to close instead of stopping, according to VW.
Volkswagen is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Beetle vehicles manufactured June 13, 2013, to July 3, 2014, reporting that “the glass sunroofs in the affected vehicles may break when the vehicles are operated over a hard road surface or strike a pothole.”
Several AGRR-related companies, including insurers and automakers, are named to this year’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” list by Fortune, which is expected to hit newsstands later this month. On the insurance side, Berkshire Hathaway, parent company to Geico, is ranked at No. 4 out of the top 50 companies. Automakers to make the top 50 include BMW at No. 14, Toyota at No. 25 and Volkswagen at No. 36. Additional insurance companies and automakers were scored but did not make it into the top 50.
